GM Vic Leroux of the IKCA - Lynn Lane owner of Standing Warriors Studios - GM Robert Temple of the BKF

Sometime ago when I was a small kid about the age of nine or ten, martial arts was big time. Bruce Lee and Kung-Fu were on the scene. My Grandmother managed a thrift store across the street from a big Dojo with the words Kenpo Karate written on the front. The Dojo was an old warehouse with huge rollup doors that would stay open in the summer months, and that meant anytime I was there on Saturday morning I could go over and watch as long as I didn’t get in the way.

My Parents couldn’t afford lessons for me so I would just watch when I got the chance. I knew one day I would be able to pay for training on my own, I didn’t know it would be almost
thirty years later. I traveled to different Dojos and trained where I could. I found one dojo near by and trained there for about three months and it didn’t satisfy me.

I later found the IKCA, an Association created by Grand Master Chuck Sullivan and Grand Master Vic LeRoux both personally trained by and first generation Black Belts of Grand Master Edmund Parker, the Father of American Kenpo Karate.

I now teach the IKCA system in my own Dojo. We are a proud school member of the IKCA here in North Carolina. I teach a select group of adults for free because like myself as a kid some can’t afford it.

*Also available for private lessons, group seminars for women’s self-defense and Bodyguard I VIP Protection.
